FeedGarner
Download FeedGarner
You can download FeedGarner 0.9.2 from
here.This version is mostly a maintenance
release that brings FeedGarner's dependencies up to date. It however fixes a
couple of minor bugs.
Version 0.9 introduced several key changes such as:
-
Feed auto-discover;
-
Items can now be protected against accidental deletion. Right click on
individual items (or on the very first line in the Items box if you wish to
perform a batch operation) and choose Toggle Protected/Unprotected;
-
Downloaded enclosures/podcasts are now directly available from a docking
window. Double click on them to launch them.
-
Various UI improvements (e.g., toolbar to easily access the most common
functionality of the application);
-
Various general improvements and minor bug fixes.
FeedGarner is a .NET application and as such requires the
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1.
What is FeedGarner?
FeedGarner is an RSS aggregator that can read RSS and Atom
feeds. Yet another one, I hear you say...
True, FeedGarner is hardly the first of its kind but the reason why I resorted
to writing my own is I could not find a free aggregator that would meet my
personal requirements.
For a start, I really do not lile the Outlook-like, three-pane interface
most have adopted. Conversely, FeedGarner has an interface reminiscent of
iTunes that allows for a more pleasant browsing experience.
FeedGarner is more than simply an aggregator; it also is a
"podcatcher", a Podcast client.
As it is enclosure-aware, FeedGarner can download media files
(podcasts) directly to your favourite player (well, it will in the near
future... ;). Currently, it downloads podcasts to a folder of your choice).
iTunes and Windows Media Player will be supported.
Please note that FeedGarner, although stable, is still in beta and
the to-do list is still long.
